Manager Making Harrassing Call

I have to say I feel a bit insulted by a phone call I received by this store manager.... .I had applied for a job Wednesday at the store which was posted on line. On Friday I got a call from the Manager at the store. I thought he was calling to set up an interview. But No, He asked me if I had applied with them for the job and I said YES. He then said 'Well, I just wanted to tell you that we hired someone else, someone from within the store'. . Im thinking 'WHAT"? They hired someone that was already working there? That does not make sense in the first place. Why would they put out a job ad saying they had a position open?? I kinda felt that maybe he had called me about my application and for whatever reason didn't like the sound of my voice so decided there on the phone to come up with an excuse to get out of the call. THAT is exactly how he made me feel from the tone of his voice and his rush to kinda end the call. Feeling a bit strange about the call I asked him 'You mean that's why you called me to tell me you hired someone else'? I mean, that is kinda strange to call someone and just tell them that you hired SOMEONE ELSE for the job. He tells me he was only giving me a courtesy call and then abruptly HUNG UP in my ear! NOW I ask you. Does THAT not smell of NOT being right? I think it does. Something was not right with his call. Very unprofessional and Im insulted by him hanging up on me when the conversation wasn't even finished. Im insulted by this representative of Sherwin Williams Paint Store in Alton IL NOBODY calls a person that JUST applied for a job to tell them they hired someone else. IF he had interviewed me and THEN said 'Ill let you know either way'. .. That's a different story BUT we never even interviewed. WHY would he call me and hang up on me?. I think I need to stop in to that store and see what this 'person' looks like in person and let him know how his call was insulting. I HOPE he reads this posting and I HOPE others read this posting and knowing what kind of person is running or working at that store I HOPE they shop elsewhere. I know I will. I don't like being insulted like that when I was ONLY seeking employment. He had no right to hang up on me like that. I had a question or two for him but I see he had no interest in talking to me. THAT type of call is not professional. On SUNDAY I called the store. Talked to someone named Ryan. Asked him if they had hired anyone yet and he said NO. Someone liked to me! Why? I called Sherwin Williams headquarters Monday and was referred to a woman named Marge whom they told me had something to do with the Midwest region. I told her this same story. She didn't have much to say. I think she saw the store manager as 'just doing his job'. .. Well, if THAT is the way they do their jobs they need to start over! She told me she would have the District Manager call me. That was almost a week ago. I have YET to hear from the District Manager and I bet I wont. THEY DONT CARE! Well, Sherwin Williams. .. if you don't care about the people that shop at your stores and the people that pay your wages ultimately, then I don't care about shopping at your stores and I dont care about being treated rudely and unprofessionally and Ill certainly tell others in social media and in person. I can get much better service and paint at Home Depot. Thank you!

Sherwin Williams hires from within the company, that's probably what he meant to say, why he called you to say that I don't know.

Bought 13 gallons of sherwin-Williams paint with primer ($52.00 a gallon stuff) recommended by sells rep. To paint livingroom, dinning room an entry way....

Walls and ceiling. Told rep, house built in 1986, hadn't been painted since. After 5 to 7 coats, covering Navaho white, still not covered. Went to buy more paint to finish job.....

Commented that I was surprised that it wasn't covering..... sherwin rep. Said, "I don't understand..... Let us send someone out to look at the job tomorrow." Tomorrow came and went, no one called, so Saturday, i called them and got lip service.....

Bring my paint back in and they would put it on a test board.... Right, like that helps me. I went back and bought 10 more gallons of paint. Call me ***!

Got same song and dance and excuses why someone couldn't come look at the project. "Will have someone out Monday. " today is Tuesday and they not only hasn't been out, but didn't call. MY BROTHER OWNS STOCK IN THIS COMPANY.

And this is how they treat customers. Wasted time, money on paint and paid painter, by the hour to put 7 coats on the walls.

Think there is a problem with this product but, a bigger problem with customer Service!

I can't help but wonder if you are in Cody Wyoming? I am having a similar problem.

Not quite as costly. Reps are suppose to make second appearance tomorrow after waiting 3 xtra weeks for paint to "dry" but never called to schedule. Still holding out hope for a satisfactory solution.

Solo product never hardened on cabinets and trim. Dry but rubs off.

Not in Wyoming.... Rather Pismo Beach, California.

Got response fron SW in < 24 hours when I went on Facebook with the same post as I have on Pissed of Consumer. (vs waiting >a week for the local rep who was going to be out the next day) Someone from District is suppose to be coming out tomorrow. June 24, 2015. Hope he has more to offer me than a gallon of paint.

Tired of this mess going on for > 1 week.

Glad I haven't used this paint on my trim or doors..... At least it is dry on the walls, just not covering.

Sherwin Williams - Terrible Customer Service

We bought 15 gallons of flat paint and 6 gallons of satin paint. While the first few boxes clearly labeled them as "flat" or "satin", the remaining two did not have any clear indicators (the white labels are illegible due to worn-out). As a result, we took a box of satin (four gallons) for flat and it greatly messed up our plan. I only asked the remaining four gallons of flat to be exchanged for satin without having to pay the price difference (<$2/ea.), it's a tiny amount but could communicate a willingness to be responsible for their negligence and a sense of care to customers. Unfortunately the assistant manager had a horrible attitude and I was totally disgusted by her attitude. I would never choose SW again.

Sherwin Williams - Manager Review from Ardmore, Oklahoma

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I was recently hired at Sherwin Williams for a part time position. The manager did the initial interview and hired me, after an hour of waiting, shortly after.

He shook my hand and told me to start on Monday, and that he would email me all the needed info. Because I now had a job, I stopped looking for one. After the weekend had passed and I still hadn't received any emails, I called Saturday evening, where the manager was "out of town." On Sunday I began to worry. I called again that morning and finally got ahold of him.

He flat out lied and told me I was never hired there and that I must have misunderstood him. I did not misunderstand him. If I had any inkling of doubt when he shook my hand and said "see you on Monday," I would have asked before I left. This man's dishonesty cost me several days of job hunting.

My husband and kids live paycheck to paycheck, and thanks to him, we are currently doing without. The worst part is that this man did not think twice about what he did, and I probably didn't cross his mind after he hung up the phone.

So inconsiderate. I will never buy another thing from his stores.

Our hiring is done through head office. He probably wanted to hire you but after he interviews you he puts in his request and then it's out of his hands. Why he gave you the impression you were hired I don't know

Reclass driver

Houston, TX. Date: 7/14/15. While driving home just after 4:15p.m. on US610 heading toward the US 290 exit, one of your drivers came up real fast and tried to push into my right lane. I had to swerve to keep from being hit, and fortunately the far right lane was clear. Then said driver realized he was in the wrong lane, and swerved back into the left lane he was previously in. The driver knew I was in the lane next too them because they came up real fast on my left. Honking didn't phase them. It happened to fast for me to get their license plate number but the truck number was 50387. I also did not have time to write down the number to call. This is blatant and inexcusable driving.

I agree.... You can't trust sherwin william's products to do the job and service before is bad enough..... But, have a problem, try to get them to follow thru or get back to you!

if you are in Maryland i'm guessing you have an older cedar siding home. If your contractor made the recommendation for a100 primer and duration then more than likely the cedar was becoming weak and the weight of the new coat started to fall off with the wood fibers.

They could be trying to protect their contractors best interest. But a lot of times it is the house. I'm sure your contractor did everything correct, scrape, clean, dull, dry. but it happens with Behr Marquee (most problems i've seen), PPG Breakthrough, Benjamin-moore Regal.

Yes, you paid a lot of money for product and professionals but some things are unpredictable. if you want to slam them on the internet with your blog i'm sure it will not do a whole lot to hurt them

Guest

a 100is not a primer duration is self priming with to coats painter's fault

Guest

A100 isn't a primer it's a contractor product for exterior use on masonry surfaces. Duration also isn't our best in class paint it ranks second next to emerald.

I'm guessing your problem is with the A100 you thought was primer but sadly isn't. Depending on your primer needs you should have used the multipurpose latex or oil.

Paint doesn't fail... People do.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-999288

Actually in the A100 line there is a quick dry alkyd primer. Also A100 finish paint is just not for masonry substrates.

Additionally the exterior latex and alkyd wood primers used to be called A100. If the customer had an issue where the primer and paint were lifting off of the surface. Someone should have checked the back of the peeling paint system. If the siding is wood, and wood fibers are present, then that could indicate a moisture issue, and the homeowner should be told about it.

Moisture is a homes enemy. Additionally keep in mind of old / previous coats of paint are what is on the back, then it is failure of the previous paint. Sometimes this can happen as the new paint film shrinks as it dries. Neither of these are the fault of the newly applied paint system.

If the duration is lifting off of the primer, then we have inter-coat adhesion issues. If that is the case, then the store should report it, and start the process of making this customer as whole as possible. I am posting as anonymous, very simply because I don't have an account to log in with. But I do work for SW.

I hate to see any customer unsatisfied. Make a call to the local District Office, and explain the situation. While I agree you shouldn't have to go through all that, sadly it looks like at this location you might have to.

I will apologize to you for having to go through this in dealing with our company regarding your home. I sincerely hope that after contacting the District management, they get you taken care of.

SW Solid Stain vs. Behr

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Unbelievable, I spent nearly 20 years using SW solid stain on my house. I was convinced this was a premium product, even though others told me to simply try something like FF stain or other.

Finally a Home Depot opened in our area, and I gave Behr outdoor solid stain a try. This is the first time I have not had ANY flaking or bubbling of stain after 3 years on the house - all cedar sided. With Sherwin Williams I routinely had problems with stain adhering to cedar and it showed in the 1st or 2nd year. I feel like such a fool for having stuck with SW for so long.

I've always suspected this was not a quality paint, but they certainly have the market cornered on name recognition. I tried telling the local SW store about my problems but they did NOT want to hear it -ever. They would blame the application prep. Extremely arrogant and unconcerned employees at the store in Muskego WI.

I will never use SW products again. This product is not worth the money you pay for a premium stain.

I am appalled at the performance of the so-called "solid stain" by Sherwin-Williams. It looks and performs like cheap *** paint.

They shouldn't even be permitted to call it 'stain'- it's a 'coating' - not a 'stain' per se. And it looks TACKY!!!!! Our deck isn't even completely restored yet, and the contractor has applied the Sherwin-Williams product to the step outside the back door and already it has bubbled and peeled! Granted, we've had lots of rain in our area recently, but should it be peeling in less than a month????

When we complained to the contractor, he said that the area with bubbling and peeling was just a 'temporary' board. Say what?? Does the contractor get a kick-back or some kind of deep discount from Sherwin-Williams?

Also, I tried to contact the folks at Sherwin-Williams by phone, and got something akin to Muzak and feeling of perennial 'on hold,' so I gave up and disconnected the call. If their phone lines are that busy, does it suggest that there are lots of unhappy customers out there?

"Property Solutions" BAD!

Hired a contractor who used this on a commercial job. Bubbling and wiping off with any water.

The stuff is coming off of doors, walls and any other surfaces. I am deeply concerned and wish there was a disclaimer available on the label to warn any and all consumers. I understand the need for cheap paint for certain applications, but this is not one of them. We need some help from Sherwin Williams asap, and they do seem to be ready to hear our facts.

The problem begins with customers of a vendor not knowing that there is such a cheap and low performing paint out there.

We would specify Sherwin Williams, but not know (necessarily, as not everyone would) to specify a higher quality paint. This leads to incredible problems.

Did you think it was a possibility that your contractor could be responsible for this issue? Did your contractor water down his paint he used on your house so he could make it go further??

Did your contractor do the correct surface prep? Did he use the correct roller cover for the job? What is the sheen level of the product?

Flat paints are not washable/scrubable.

There are many factors that come into play in this situation. I would suggest speaking with your contractor and have him guarantee his work.

Old paint leaching through the new paint

I have used Sherwin Williams paint for a number of years. We painted the inside of our house with 2 coats of Sherwin Williams Cashmere after carefully cleaning and prepping the walls. The old paint starting showing through within a year. We started repainting the walls where this happened, but after repainting almost the whole house, we gave up. We have since repainted the house all over again with a different quality Dun Edwards paint. Good luck ever getting any help from Sherwin Williams and their so called guarantee. We had the store manager come out and look. She told us it wasn't anything to do with their paint. I will never use their paint again. Super cheap!

Paint doesn't fail, people applying the paint fail.

Anything can effect coverage. Poor application, colour, finish, sunlight, absent priming.

Sherwin Williams Paint Review from Greenville, South Carolina

I bought sherwin Williams because my new house came with sherwin Williams coupons and paint. I purchased some emerald matte finish green paint for my dining room. After 2 layers my cut ins were lighter than the wall, then after a 3rd coat. The cut in were darker and wall shows roller marks... Shows where roller met cut in edges! It looks horrible!!!! I painted my entire old house... Over 2100 sq ft with Behr paint from Homedept on dark brown, yellow, and dark green. All in satin finish and did not have one problem. I have painted mY mothers House in Behr paint.. Both coral and a green... Yellow.. No problems! So for sw to tell me it's normal For edges to show... On a matte finish is unacceptable! They said it doesn't show as much in light colors or dark colors... But more on colors in the middle Range. I also painted my bar a chocolate brown.. Matte... And once ligt hits it... Can see cut ins and roller texture difference! They are quick to blame It on someones technique. I will. Then they tell me To make sure my room is not too hot or humid.. That may be the problem.... Um... It is 30 degrees in ac now... Humidity and temp is not the problem! Not use sw anymore.

Paint bubbles

We painted our living room and loved the paint - it covered well but suddenly bubbles started appearing on the wall. we scraped, spackled and tried again.

This time the bubbles appeared somewhere else. My husband must have painted the same wall 5 times. Sherwin Williams claimed that they knew of no such issue. A couple years later we tried again and painted out bedroom.

We have the same *** issue!!! My husband is furious and we are now on day 5 waiting for the Sherwin Williams rep to call us back.

Same issue here with their "solo" line. My details are shared in another post $4000 in prep work down the drain.

Guest

As a contractor it sounds like you did too much too fast. I've never had an issue with paint bubbling unless you put a coat of paint on spackle to early.

You need to let it try or hire someone to paint it. Any paint you buy will do that, not a sw problem.

Same here... their "solo" line bubbled up like micro ballons.

On 3 different primers (even the SW premium primer; $32 gallon). Same reaction too when painted on fully cured solo itself. I've worked with various paints for 18 years and will never touch go near SW again. The painting contractor is now working with SW asking them "what the *** is going on?" $4000.00 in pristine prep work labor down the drain and will need to sand for the 3rd time.

Paint was applied in 70 degree conditions, new construction, interior in a very clean environment with detailed, clean prep work.

Tried same "solo" paint from another SW location and even used different spray equipment (Graco/Titan) with new nose and gun...same result.

This "Solo" line has series QC issues.

IMHO something in the paint is not chemically stable when curing.

To Go Shagreen was 1-2 shades darker than 5 gallons Harmony

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Sales people never informed me that the test I used on a wall in my home from the Shagreen, would be much darker than what was actually bought by my paint contractor. Same numbers….different shade.

I am disgusted at the sales rep's response to my contractor, saying the purchased 5 gallons are not necessarily guaranteed to be the same as the To Go containers. THEN WHY PURCHASE THE TESTER PRODUCT??? SW should have offered to supply the To Go color and reimburse me (or the paint contractor) to re-paint the 2 bedrooms.

I am a realtor (many opportunities to recommend SW paint to contractors); wish this contractor had gone with my suggestion to use Baer paint, which is more consistent. I hope to get a response from SW before I report this to BBB.

Sherwin Williams - Paint Review

Anyone who's been told No or had the harsh reality of being problem wrong can take to the internet and vent. I also disagree with this comment completely!! I wonder when homeowners get home with their paint they expect it to crawl out of the can and on to their wall? Ever heard tpu hey what you pay for?? Contractors may pay less than half what a homeowner does but hear me when I say... It's NOT for the same quality of paint. There is an entirely separate line of paint for them. They do large production and new residential homes. No need for high end paint. One or two tone homes are painted by the new owners when they move in. A company doesnt hold the highest industry ratings and customer base for 150 years by selling bad product to unsuspecting victims... That doesn't speak very highly of this poster or every other citizen does it? Inuding his father. Try Sherwin for yourself! Ask questions in the store and use the recommended tools for application. Don't cut corners. In the long run you'll be happy you did it right and your paint will last years and years!!

The reason there are two separate lines of paint is because painters know how to paint and they can make walls looks great just by the techniques they use. Average people aren't great painters bc they don't have the same experience, so the paint is made with more levelers in it which smooth it out as it dries.

If you want to buy the cheaper paint, but you don't know how to use it then you will get *** results. That's why there are professional painters.

Guest

I paint professionally and I completely agree a contractor can use cheap paint and get good results. How ever Behr is the 2nd leading seller and been on the scene for a long time because the majority are not pros. Behr is essentially designed for the average Joe to achieve outstanding results
