Dreadful Manager

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Zero Customer Service from this dreadful woman who was agressive arrogant and totally unhelpful......The Paint was paid for in advance (over $700.00) but The Manager was Totally unwilling to keep the paint for a few days.....it was against company Policy (Really!?!) and she would be sacked if the Paint was not picked up within a week of payment......what Planet is she on to be unwilling or unable(?) to accommodate a simple request and if this is the fear that the company instill in employees over a simple Customer Service request, then they and this woman do not understand Business and Customer Service. This woman made a nuisance of herself calling my Client in NY and repadly doing so and then calling me - This woman has a problem and sadly is a poor communicator. Steer clear of this store in Poinciana Florida

That's not uncommon. I've seen a ton of managers make the exception for really good well known customers.

I've seen a lot of managers get fired for it as well. It sounds like a ridiculous policy but Sherwin takes it super serious. Pre Billing is a big no no at SW & most paint companies in general. There were enough instances where a painter would leave paint in a store for several weeks & it would either get thrown out or sold as mistints & he would show back up pissed off asking about his paint.

So SW is pretty hardlined on that policy.

A little work around I used to take advantage of is I would put it in as a delivery but I would set it up for a couple of days later.

Deliveries have to be billed to be submitted. So then on the day of pick up I would just go in the system & alter it saying customer decided to pick up instead.

Guest

It is company policy at SW that all paint must be picked up or delivered the day it is paid for. It is actually because they are self insured and can be held responsible for damage to or loss of the product if something happens to it in the store.

If it is stored at the store for a day or two it usually is no big problem. Managers have quite often been fired for violating this policy.

Meggie Bjp

What is hard to understand? Managers at Sherwin Williams stores in Poinciana Florida don't make national policy.

You wanted her to lose her job to accommodate you? To pick up paint in FLORIDA (?) for your "client" in NY (?)

Sherwin Williams paint bubbling.

I have an interior paint job in progress using Promar 200 latex eggshell paint. The drywall was floated by a drywall man, premered and painted with two coats.

It bubbled so my painters sanded and primed again with Kildz. Guess what? It bubbled again. I called for a rep yesterday, gave the store the batch number and am awaiting satisfaction.

I had to shut the job down. We have been without half our house for three weeks with no end in sight.

Unless they give me a better grade of paint I"m going with another brand of paint. I should have followed my gut feeling and went with a paint/primer combo of top quality one coat Bear.

Poor paint quality

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I used the $52.00 a can paint. It is not good quality.

Very thin-it dripped all over the place and my walls are multicolored with lighter patches even after 2 coats and after priming the walls white first. I tried to touch the light areas up and it still not help darker it as it normally would a bit. it is still lines of lighter paint especially around the edges-which were painted 3 times. the first coat was rolled twice due to seeing the white come through-and on smooth walls.

Alot of work for this outcome.

very upsetting. I think I will go to Ben Moore next time to save frustration.

Every thing at Sherwin is over priced on purpose. They charge their stores a ridiculous amount of Store Cost on inventory so they have to charge $50+ on paint.

$52 paint at Sherwin could literally be a $15-25 dollar can of paint anywhere else apples to apples.

You cant automatically trust quality based on price. At least not in the paint industry & especially at Sherwin.

Sherwin Williams - Manager Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I was going to sherwin Williams paints store in 7514 Highway 78

Sachse, TX 75048

United States. And they always set up free paint sticks and free five gallons.

So I took a five full of paint sticks and 2 five gallons. Manager aproches to me very angry asking why was I taking all of the paint sticks. So I told the manager I was sorry and he still replied to me in a very rued way. I really felt embarrassed because their was customers all around me.

So I think if he was a professional enough he would of handle the situation differently.

I've been buying matiral at sherwin Williams for 16 years and this was the worst experience I ever had. Hope to have better hospitality at another paint store.

Sherwin Williams - Paint Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Painted all trim in my entire home with top grade Sherwin Williams paint approximately 5 years ago. Still tacky today.

Windows all stuck shut even after repeatedly unsticking them every season, items still stick to windowsills.

What up?

Very disappointed in St Louis

Did you use a non-blocking enamel?

Should be using proclassic, snapdry or solo for a tack free finish.

Water based acrylic alkyd proclassic is my favorite.

Even top grade wall paint such as emerald will not dry tack free. Oil based enamels are available as well depending on what environmental rules your city has, but will be much less friendly with application and clean up.

Manager and salesperson in Brenham texas

I purchased a gallon of primer color matched about 1-1/2 weeks ago(first week of November). When I opened the paint can it was like uncorking champagne.

The can was too full and not shaken enough to mix colors. I had white and tan swirls. I tried to put the lid back on to return to the store and it was so full paint oozed out everywhere and I could not get the lid on securely. I put the can in another larger bucket to return to the store.

Upon arrival at the store the first thing the sales woman suggested was that I let it get too hot. This is November. Then she suggested it was just the paint sitting too long. 1-1/2 weeks.

She next calls the manager out. This was the rudest individual. First he chastised the sales person for someone color matching primer, then he threatens to find out exactly who did it, then he complains about how I removed the lid. I used the tool they gave me at purchase.

I told him I lost a lot of paint trying to get the lid back on. He tells me a lot is a quart. All of this with his back to me, never looking me in the eye, never apologizing. They did mix another gallon for me however the only apology I received was when I explained to the sales woman that this was not my fault.

I have been using Sherwin Williams paint for probably 30 years and have always found the sales staff to be courteous and helpful. I just moved to Brenham and can honestly say I may never use that store again.

I would rather drive to Katy or College Station than be exposed to that level of unprofessionalism and sheer rudeness again. Someone needs to send that manager and staff to charm school!!

No more Sherwin Williams for me.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I recently took a piece of clapboard siding in for a color match. When the match was done, I was completely dissatisfied as the color from the Sherwin Williams match was significantly darker than the original. Amazingly, the store manage pronounced "perfect match" to which I responded "You've got to be kidding." I insisted that some white be added to the mix to lighten the shade. The manager then asked me if he could put the 'new color' on the board itself. I said "OK". This time, the match did, indeed, seem perfect. When I showed the board to my painter he was somewhat suspicious. He said (half jokingly) 'Looks like he simply washed off a part of the old board.' I instructed him to go ahead and put the new 'perfect match' on the walls. After the paint dried it became clear, though, that *nothing* had been done to lighten the mix; and, under magnification, it was clear that cleaning off the old board was exactly what the store manger had done. Put differently, he did nothing and *lied to me* that he had. I now have a gallon of Duration paint (expensive) that is unusable. But worse than this, I must have my painter repaint several exterior walls as the new 'perfect match' color is so obviously the wrong color. Not getting a color match quite right is understandable. Lying to customers, however, is not. Certainly I'll never go back to this Sherwin Williams store again. And I'm of the mind, to avoid Sherwin Williams paints altogether.

Sherwin Williams - Customer Care Review

I purchased a gallon of paint . At the store in Vernon Tx.

After opening and painting a small spot on the wall . It was too dark . So i took it back to the store . After they tried to lighten it !

The color still wasn't to my liking . They stated that they couldn't mix another can . So i called another store 50 miles away ! And i told them exactly what had happened.

They told me too bring it right on in . That they would help me. Because it was only a gallon . The store in Vernon Tx.

Could have did the same . I've been in business over 25 years . Helping others , and especially something this easy and simple to solve . I will Never !

Ever!

shop there again . They we're just being *** !!!!

Costly Mistake Made by Sherwin Williams Paint Store, Spokane WA

We purchased 6 different color samples at Sherwin Williams in Spokane, Washington. We decided on "Analytical Gray".

We hired a professional painting company to paint our interior of our house. After spending $3,200 we noticed that the color was not the same as the sample. We noticed it right away but they told us to give it a chance until it dryed, which we did. The color did not change.

We brought our sample paint it the store as well as the 5 gallon bucket of "Analytical Gray" and talked to the manager. He admitted it was a different color. He said the paint sample was a different product so that's why it didn't match. That is BS!!

He said that he would give us free paint and could match the sample we bought. Why didnt they match it in the first place!!! Thats the point of the samples we bought!!! The whole point of a sample is to find the color you like.

That's the point of a color swatch. What's the point of anyone buying color samples if they are going to change depending on the product. He was full of *** and that was his way of brushing their mistake off. I want Sherwin Williams to pay to paint the inside of my house due to their mess up.

We also called the District Manager 2 times and still have not received a call back. I want this mistake fixed!!

Same exact thing has happened to me. Our builder has an account with SW so all of our paint colors are in the system..

I even brought the left over paint the builder left me to make sure we match the right color.. got home.. started painting touch ups..I mean I painted big Patches all over my home.. they told me to wait until it drys, well I did..

and its a much darker grey than the one we are supposed to have- now my walls are different Gray’s with big painted patches everywhere! They are sending someone out to tomorrow to collect the two cans of paint that are supposed to be the same color and look at my walls- how did you get the district managers number, looks like I’ll be needing it too!

Guest

The paint the builder put on our new home does not match what we thought we were getting. It's yellow.

We have contacted Sherman Williams. Hoping for a resolution.

Guest

hate to defend sw but different paint yields different color. r you sure painter did apply sw and not a competitive product.

Guest

District manager called and said they will repaint the space in the color we liked. He was very nice and wanted to fix the problem.

Thank you for your prompt attention Sherwin Williams concerning this issue. We have used Sherwin Williams for years as my husband is a contractor and we have never had any issues before this incident.

Looking forward to getting my house painted in the new color. Thanks again.

Guest

He isn't incorrect when he says that the different paint may tint a different color than the paint chip or a can of sample paint. But they should have adjusted to the sample you provided either way instead of just using the formula they had on the computer.

This is exactly why I hate those dang sample cans of paint. They NEVER match what the store tints.

Oil base semi transparent stain

Had deck professionally cleaned. stain applied by a professional.

Finished job May 16, 2016. Two weeks later the part exposed to the elements was completely black. Deck was still tacky to the touch. This is mid October and part that is under roof is still tacky.

The black is not mold. Because it never sealed, the water was absorbed by the wood and the stain separated and turned black. The store offered to reimburse us for the cost of the stain provided we sign a document releasing sherwin williams from all damage to the deck. Document stated we could not consult attorney or even tell anyone about our bad experience.

I refused.

We may have to replace entire deck. I will never use another sherwin williams product.

This happened to me last May 2016 after I had my deck stained and Sherwin Williams said it was mold but the color only changed where the sun made contact. I am looking to file a suit in small claims court.

Currently my deck, stairs and railings looks black

This is not mold because under the deck rug and bottom of deck was not affected. It looks as if it was in a fire and I believe it's black pigment.

Sherwin Williams - Paint Review from Holly, Michigan

Our home is in Marathon, Fl. We had the entire home painted inside and out with SW products.

The interior started peeling everywhere almost immediately. SW Pro Mar 200 was the interior product. We are now stuck between SW and the painter with no recourse at this time.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR SHERWIN WILLIAMS TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND RECTIFY OUR SITUATION!!!

Sherwin Williams - Paint Review

I bought yesterday 4 gallons of EMERALD paint I ask for one coat coverage . Well it is not one coat coverage .

And EMERALD Has a very high odor of ammonia ! We cannot use EMERALD paint indoors. I tried to return this 50. Dollar a gallon paint to south high street but they will not take return paint .

I also felt that EMERALD paint was highly recommended by the mellenial that works there . She thinks I used the wrong roller that I also bought from Sherwinwilliams Williams and said i should open all my windows to use EMERALD after i called about the offensive smell .

Up to now I was always steered correct at Sherwinwilliams . I bought promar 200 to replace EMERALD I received an additional 10 percent off my promar 200 I gave them the EMERALD AS A gift and ask her to be sure to use EMERALD indoors at her house...............!will skipper Fishnone@***.com

All paints have smell even the 0 voc so its recommended to have good ventilation. All sherwin williams paints from what i know do not cover in one coat. I am not sure where customers keep thinking paint is this magical mystery substance that works instantly and will cover anything with 0 work cause it is not, she probably told you sherwin williams policy is 2 coats no matter what but good job.

Paint is not only a color. It is a build as well.

Sometimes color will cover in a single coat, however, from a performance standpoint, 2 COATS ARE REQUIRED for all architectural products. Use harmony if you are concerned about the smell, and yes, different roller covers will give you different performances across various products.

Workers have no knowledge on their products and how to apply them

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Jul 20, 2016

Since we have yet to hear from the store on how to fix this problem, we have researched and talked to many other stores. Now we have spent money on hand held sanders as we have to sand everything down to the bone with different sand paper grains and then try to apply...

Original review Jul 15, 2016
My husband and I bought stain for our kitchen cabinets from their store in Lexington, SC. We explained that this was our first experience with staining cabinets and we asked if they had any advice considering they are supposed to know their products and have experience.

Two different workers gave us the same advice and wrote on our cans for how to apply and when to apply each product. The advice did not match the directions on the products so we questioned the process to which the workers guaranteed that they knew what they were talking about. They told us we had to first put a clear sealer on the cabinet, then lightly sand, and then add the oil stain. We closely followed the directions to find out that they had told us all wrong.

We relied on their expertise and they screwed us over. We called other paint stores and they said by putting the sealer on first you will not be able to have the stain soak in to show the grains. These were brand new cabinets and they are now ruined and look TERRIBLE. The stain will not soak in and is piled on top with tons of drip marks.

We spent thousands of dollars redoing our kitchen and now this stain has destroyed the whole look. We called and talked with the store manager who insisted that we did it the correct way and did not have any suggestions for how to fix the problem. In addition, he barely acknowledged my issue until I put him on the phone with my husband. I'm happy to see Lexington has no value for women.

(NOT) We now have to figure out a way to prevent simply painting the cabinets (and losing a lot of value in our kitchen) and try and still use the nice grain. This whole process has been extremely disheartening and frustrating as it has added weeks of work (and added costs) for us and has not allowed us to begin using our kitchen. Customers pay not only for the product, but for the knowledge of the workers and this was a huge let down.

We really hope that Sherwin Williams works with us to fix our issue, but so far they have not been willing to help at all.

The missing bit of info here is what kind of wood are the cabinets made of? When you finish new wood, the type is crucial in how you proceed.

If the cabinets are of a soft wood like pine, then the employees were correct in their directions---apply wood sealer, wait 30 minutes and then apply stain, let dry for awhile, then wipe off the excess that did not penetrate. Then, sand with fine sandpaper lightly, wipe off the sawdust with a tack cloth and then apply the poly, etc. If you are finishing a hard wood like oak, etc. then you do not want to apply a wood sealer---in which case you get the results you got.

All in all, always follow the can directions or try to find someone who actually has done this kind of work themselves. Most employees in these stores haven't a clue. You can salvage the bad results by determining the type of wood and then sanding all the cabinets down to bare wood and starting again. Alot of work, but that's about the only solution other than ripping them out and buying new.

By the way, I have been doing this kind of thing for decades an have found that Minwax makes a good product line of stains and polyurethane, etc. which is cheaper and better than other brands.

I definitely would not go to a Sherwin Williams store for anything like this---much too expensive for what you get. Good luck.

The reviewer lists sanding sealer as the product used, so it sounds like the store sold them sanding sealer but instructed them to use it like a wood conditioner which you're referring to. Sanding sealer would be used in between the stain and the poly, wood conditioner would be used before the stain.

Completely different animals.
